WELCOME TO TANZANIA, THE CRADLE OF MANKIND

Tanzania is a land of superlatives, having a share in the largest and deepest lakes in Africa. In the North lies ngorongoro-crater.jpgLake Victoria, the source of River Nile and Africa's largest lake. To the west is Lake Tanganyika, the world's second deepest lake.

Within its borders also lie the highest mountain of Africa - Mt Kilimanjaro at 5,896m and the largest game reserve - the Serengeti. Its coastal towns and offshore islands like Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia conjure up an exotic tapestry that is rich in color and culture.

Zanzibar - the Isle of Spices has to date retained the strong Arab and Swahili culture typical of the East African coastline. Exotic beaches and ancient ruins combined with the friendly people of Zanzibar make the island a beautiful retreat. The islands of Mafia and Pemba also have spectacular beaches and some of the finest deep sea fishing and snorkeling in the world.

Tanzania has attracted visitors through generations. Here the famous archaeologists, Mary and Louis Leakey discovered our earliest ancestral remains.

Victorian explorers made epic journeys of discovery through this land in search of the Nile. Tanzania is most famous for her wilderness and wildlife splendour. More than a quarter of Tanzania has been set aside as protected forests, National Parks and Game Reserves.

The northern parks include Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and Tarangire. In the West are Gombe Stream, Mahale Mountains, Rubondo Island and Katavi and in the south are Ruaha and Mikumi National Parks.

A trip to Tanzania promises unmatched game viewing in endless plains, along unspoilt watercourses and in unique haunts like the awe inspiring Ngorongoro crater and Lake Manyara ontent to fall here.
