Kenya Bush Memories

DAY 1: NAIROBI

On arrival in Nairobi, you will be met at the Airport by our representative and transferred to the Giraffe Manor, situated on 120 acres of forested land, just eight miles from the city centre.

Giraffe Manor was built in 1932 and is now managed and operated by Rick Anderson, son of Betty Melville, the co-founder of AFEW. Generations of the endangered Rothschild's Giraffe have been raised here and occasionally visit the manor for treats.

DAY 2 / 3: MERU NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast at your hotel, your driver will transfer you to Wilson airstrip for your flight to Meru your home for the next two nights. Upon arrival at the airstrip, met and transferred to Elsa’s Kopje which is named after Elsa the lioness, made famous by George and Joy Adamson’s biographical book and film “Born Free”.

Elsa’s Kopje remains one of the most elegant lodges in Africa, with one of the most spectacular settings.  It is the best up market location to view rhino in their natural habitat in Kenya.

DAY 4 / 5: SAMBURU
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the local airsrtip for your flight to Samburu National Reserve your home for the next two nights. Upon arrival in Samburu reserve, your naturalist will drive you to your luxurious camp for check in with a game drive enroute.

Set on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in Samburu National Reserve and surrounded by doum palms, beautiful indigenous trees and shrubs sits Elephant Bedroom Camp, a small and exclusive camp of 12 luxury tents - all furnished in rustic African style while offering all the comforts expected of a luxury camp.

DAY 6: MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Masai Mara.
Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to Governors IL Moran camp, located along the banks of the Mara River, right in the heart of the Masai Mara Game Reserve, with the best game viewing right on your doorstep

DAY 7: MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE
Spend the days with morning and afternoon wildlife-viewing opportunities in the Maasai Mara Reserve, also known as the “Jewel of Africa,” a site with one of the largest and the most spectacular animal migrations in the world.

Optional activities you can try while in the Mara include a balloon safari for an exhilarating experience over the savannah as the early sun rises and the animals are more active.
If you wish, for a nominal fee, you can also visit a Maasai Village to experience this nomadic tribe’s way of life and see their colorful culture.

DAY 8: TSAVO EAST NATIONAL PARK
After an early morning breakfast at your luxurious camp, your driver will transfer you to the local airstrip for your morning flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be met by your naturalist guide and drive to Tsavo East national parks your home for the next three nights.

Galdessa Main Camp is located on the southern bank of the Galana River, partially concealed by canopies of doum palms. Arrive in time for lunch at the camp and later on proceed for the evening game drive.

DAY 9: TSAVO EAST NATIONAL PARK
Spend the day with a morning and afternoon or full day game viewing at the park.

Tsavo East National Park is a wilderness area of great biodiversity. Uncommon species seen include lesser kudu, gerenuk, fringed-eared Oryx, Hirola and Peter’s gazelle. The area is renowned for elephants particularly during the dry season

The camp’s activities include game drives in open vehicles; walking safaris along the Galana River and sand rivers; sundowners and bush breakfasts; and visits to the nearby Rhino Camp conservation project (15 minutes from Galdessa). The camp’s direct area is home to over 50 black rhino.

DAY 10: DEPARTURE
Get a last chance to photograph that awesome sunrise before driving back to Nairobi.  This afternoon, you may opt to shop in town. Soon you are escorted to the airport for your homebound flight.
Optional extension if required:
After breakfast continue to the coastal region for a beach holiday in at South or North coast.
