TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

The Tarangire National Park covers an area of 2600 sq. kms. Its name is derived from the Tarangire River which flows through the park throughout the year. The Tarangire National Park forms a "dry season retreat" for much of the wildlife of the southern Masailand.
The animals that move north during the wet season include:
- Wildebeest
- Zebra
- Thompson's Gazelle
- Buffalo
- Eland
- Hartebeest.
The National Park is also home to approximately over 300 species of birds. The great baobab trees form a beautiful feature of the park.
Also included within its borders are a number of hills, as well as rivers and swamps.
